I always liked it too. I think that's hilarious that your son was taught in school. I was always horrified when my son would tell which movies they'd watched in High School. Your tax dollars at work
I think they had to research every reference in the song as part of a modern history course. Not a bad assignment. Especially if they absorb the message of the song which is that our generation (boomers) is not responsible for everything bad in the world. We didn't start the fire!
#41 on the list of the 50 Worst Songs Ever, but I kind of like it. My sons had to study it in history in middle school.
