Over the last few weeks, my blog has been getting a lot of spam comments, usually 3-4 a day. They are invariably selling viagra or cialis. It's very annoying and I am at a loss to know how to block them. I am curious if anyone else is having this problem.
On a side note, Bob, a crew mate on Wharf Rate, posed what it said about this blog? Hhhm. Comments anyone?
Try being proactive with outbound promotional messages, and embed them liberally into your blogs... You could try talking about Viagra and Cialis etc. and the role these "performance" enhancing wonder pills can drive bold new sailing results. Keep the monkeys that are hopped-up on the pills happy with your own little link farm? Seriously, We all applaud that you have open comments! great blog Adam!

if you are using a wordpress blog, then you should set it to approve on all comments, and also, I would add a plugin called akismet.
if you are administering your own mysql database with wordpress, then their may be some nasty scripts afoot in your data base. .either way, get help getting rid of them..

Spammers really sucks! Try installing some spam filter in your blog or captcha codes. I think it can also help eliminate spammers.

I haven't had that type of spam on my blog -- maybe Blogger's anti-spam system works better. I was, however, getting about 5 emails a day offering to enhance my performance, up until a week or two ago, when I changed email providers.
