The origin of Messing About In Sailboats

The original quote is from Kenneth Grahame's Wind In the Willows: "There is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats."

Nice article in today's NY Times about the 79th Street Boat Basin. For those of you not familiar with Gotham, this boat basin is on the Hudson in New York's Upper West Side.

It's "...part fishing village, part Monte Carlo and all floating opera all of the time." Sounds like where I want to retire to.
