The origin of Messing About In Sailboats

  • The original quote is from Kenneth Grahame's Wind In the Willows: "There is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats."

Great list. But I noticed one thing. You have Jimmy Buffet's "mother ocean" and "Mother Ocean" listed separately. To the best of my knowlege the correct title of the song that starts off "Mother, mother, ocean" is actually "A Pirate Looks at Forty".

Then you also have Jimmy Buffet's "Pirate" listed. I'm not aware of such a song unless this is also a reference to "A Pirate Looks at Forty".

And then you have the same song by Jack Johnson listed.

I wonder if the votes for all these four items were consolidates it would make the top ten?

I'm glad you included Jimmy Buffett. His music is great.
