The original quote is from Kenneth Grahame's Wind In the Willows: "There is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats."
A sharp lookout and quick action by the crew of a British yacht in the Gibraltar Strait saved the life of a motorboater who had leapt off his burning boat a few weeks ago. I saw this today on Facebook, thanks to West Marine. It's a year old and I can't believe that I hadn't seen it. Moreover I didn't know this story. I was in London during 9/11 so never heard about the evacuation by water. Bigger than Dunkirk! Extraordinarily moving. If you haven't seen it, you have to watch this.

The boat was towed back to the UK by the Royal Navy after it was found drifting in the Indian Ocean, following the Kent couple's capture. [More after the little link above]
A post-regatta post from Paul Callahan. They came close for most of the regatta and were in with a shot of at least a bronze until the penultimate day when things went awry.
Sadly there were robbed of the chance of getting back in it, as the final day of racing was canceled due to lack of wind.
It's been an honor to help Paul throughout his campaign. It's rare that you get he chance to work with such an exceptional human being.
